Kenya was designed and developed by Robert Chatley, with guidance from Susan Eisenbach. Most of the work in developing version 2 was by Alan Chan. Work on version 3, with an experimental backwards debugger was by May Leung. The current version 4 was written by Tristan Allwood and Matthew Sackman. Kenya has at times been maintained by Christopher Anderson. The Kenya logo was designed by Ashok Argent-Katwala.
Kenya is being used for teaching programming at Imperial College London, the Politecnico di Milano in Italy, and at various universities in South America.
